FAILURE: Using ngModel With A Custom Component In Angular 2 Beta 1

For the last 4 or 5 days, I've been trying to wrap my head around the use of ngModel in Angular 2 Beta 1. And, just to be clear, I still haven't figured it out. It's incredibly frustrating, which I let show a bit on Twitter yesterday.
