The state of sync in web apps is that sync sucks. GTalk loses messages inbetween desktop and mobile. Apple iCloud can’t merge back document replicas if those were edited concurrently. Google Docs needs some ungodly chemistry to resync after working offline. These are SNAFUs I personally experienced and I have also heard other folks complaining about Evernote, Skype, Dropbox, you name it.

We're currently in the design and planning phase for creating our next iteration of tools for our internal users, with a focus on mobile first. Given our current tech stack and developer resources, we can't make the investment (currently) in native apps, especially since most will be little more than report and CRUD applications. This seems to solve the main concern I had with developing mobile web applications, rather than native. I'm going to have to play around with this and see how it works. I'd like to see some supporting UI code around helping the user work out conflict resolution, a fleshed out ecosystem like that would really put this over the top.
